Why was Risperdal recalled?

The June 2011 recall was implemented after consumers reported that Risperdal 3 mg tablets and risperidone 2 mg tablets were emitting a strange odor. The smell was believed to be from TBA (2,4,6 tribromoanisole), a by-product of a chemical preservative used on wood pallets. The pallets are used to store and transport the drug.
